The Village of Pinehurst, designated a National Landmark in 1996, is the only site recognized for its significant role in U.S. golf history. The famous Pinehurst's eight golf courses make it the world's largest golf resort. And they have just announced the plans for additional courses 9 and beyond! It's only fitting that it hosted the 1999 U.S. Open and will play host to this prestigious tournament again in 2005.
